My kids would say that Lawrence can be summed up in two words: “fun” and “brave.” The latter for his days overseas, and the former as a permanent brand. He’s always up for a good time, adventure, and a dash of risk, and they get super psyched when they hear that he’s coming by the house, or that he’ll be at Cape Cod when we’re there, etc. I’d have to agree with their assessment… Lawrence, you always bring a good time, and I’m sure Elissa counts that as one of the things to look forward to the rest of her life. Congrats to you both, and love from all of us… Russ, Julie, O-Man, and J-Man.

  2. Uncle John and Aunt Holly

There was a time several years ago when you could have hung a sign over our front door saying “Nephews Are Us!” That’s because, on separate occasions, we had the pleasure of having three different nephews come live with us for a period of several months each. Lawrence was one of those nephews! His time with us was during the summer (of 2004?) that he worked with his Uncle John at the surveying company where John was employed. Since only his day time was spoken for, this was also the summer when I cajoled Lawrence into participating in the summer theatre program for which I worked. He was cast as the male lead in the production of Cole Porter’s musical “Can-Can” and had quite the experience! I think the whole process was more than he bargained for and there were growing pains along the way but the end result did both Lawrence and the production proud! Aside from the pressures of memorizing lines, songs and staging, Lawrence also learned some painful lessons along the way. For instance, did you know that mic belts are not to be trusted? You should duct tape the mic pack to your chest every night… Also, did you know it is not necessary to remove your clothes when you wish to make them wrinkle-free? You can steam them while you wear them (despite the shocked faces of fellow cast members…)! Regardless, it was a wonderful summer and we continue to benefit from the bonds forged while Lawrence stayed with us! We’re so glad Uncle John is a part of your wedding! Please know the rest of us are definitely there in spirit! We look forward to more fun times in the years ahead! Blessings to you both with lots of love from Uncle John, Aunt Holly, Daniel, James, Bridget and Nora! XOXOXOXOXOXO

Summer 2018, Lawrence has a specific goal, to climb as fast as possible the Col de la Madone above Mentone. I was there, sharing this vertical competition. I’ve to admit that he was faster than I, even if I took a wrong turn and this mistake spared me the humiliation of finding him counting exactly how many minutes he left me behind. Luckily we are left with some incentive to improve ourselves: we both climbed the Madone in about twice as much time as Chris Froome.
